Black History Month 2022: Frantz Fanon

I decided to do a mini presentation on Frantz Fanon for Black history month because I am currently reading his book Black Skin White Mask, this was a book recommendation to me by by a good brotha Adrian Wiley we are both interested in Socialism and Marxism. I thought Fanon would be a good person to share because his works have been heavily influential in revolutionary movements all over the world Africa, Europe, Middle East, the Caribbean islands, and the Americas including activist in those countries as well. I strongly suggest people start reading his works especially people that are in oppressive countries, or were formally or still are under colonization, his books will open your mind and expose a lot of behaviors you might not have noticed before.

I did present this on the Pseudo Killas YouTube Channel but I decided not to post the link here because the live stream had events that took place that might not be appropriate for this medium.

Black History Month 2022: Gerald Lawson

He was known as Jerry I decided to do a mini presentation on Mr. Lawson because he played a role in history with a hobby of mind that is near and dear, and that is gaming.

I have been playing video games from a very young age. I remember sneaking onto my dad’s IBM PC AT Built in 1989, putting the wrong floppy disk in to try an play some caterpillar game. I remember the joy and excitement around this same time playing on an NES, couldn’t get enough of Duck hunt and using that bulky orange gun LoL. Who could forget Sonic, Street fighter, and Streets of Rage on the Sega, the amazing story of Zelda and Pokémon Stadium on the N64, Hours on the GameCube playing Paper Mario, Star Fox, Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing. Even in more recent times diving deep in in the Xbox 360 honing my skills in Rainbow 6, Ghost Recon, and Call of Duty… losing my self in the worlds of the best video games ever made Mass Effect, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls. Even to the Present with Xbox One/Series X Blowing up tanks in Battlefield, saving the world in Gears of War, falling in love with Cyberpunk, and combating evil in Warhammer Vermintide. Even though I was mostly a console gamer even had a GameBoy Color and Sega handheld (Game Gear) at one point; I enjoyed playing on PC as well many games come to mind: Jagged Alliance, Max Payne, Pharaoh, Summoner, Legend of Kain, Prince of Persia, Age of Empire, with RuneScape, City of Hero’s, SWAT 4, Thief, and Desus Ex being my favorite games… sooooo many more games I got the opportunity to play that aren’t even listed here. Now here I am in 2022 coming back to Nintendo where the love originally started purchasing a Nintendo Switch getting into the latest Pokémon, animal Crossing, and of Course Zelda and Mario.

If it wasn’t for people like Gerald Lawson and him creating a device to make it easier for people to play video games who knows. I probably would have never been exposed to this medium of entertainment, exploring the worlds, imagining myself in the stories, being motivated by the characters, and of course later playing online meeting people across the globe form different racial backgrounds, languages, and professions… Thank you for your contributions to my happiness.

I did present this on the Pseudo Killas YouTube Channel but I choose not to list it here because of some events that took place on the that live stream that would be inappropriate for this medium.

Black History Month 2022

I decided to do a mini Presentation on these four African-Americans for Black History month. Dr. Hinton because I didn’t want people to forget that we are still in a pandemic, and that black people have always been in the Center of the problem to try and find a solution like he did when Syphilis was problem in the black community. Evelyn Nicol whom died from complications of Covid-19 Did amazing work on HIV and made sure to confront racism and sexism in the science field. Jarita Holbrook was important to bring up because of her work in regards to astronomy with indigenous people from Africa and Fiji. I thought she was an important highlight because when we have these discussion, earlier civilizations with darker skin appear to be left out of the conversation. Finally Aomawa Shields because of her important work toward finding a viable planet like Earth, and her community work with the youth as well as her fight against racism in her field of study.

I did present this on a live stream on the Pseudo Killas YouTube channel but I will not be posting it here because of other events that took place on the stream that would be inappropriate for this medium. I hope a glimpse into the accomplishments of these four individuals, makes you feel proud and motivates you as well, and you learned something you didn’t before.

Howard Academy: Ocala, FL (Marion County) by Chani Kinsler

*THE COMPLETE PRESENTATION WITH AUDIO IS IN A LINK AT THE BOTTOM*

This is a Presentation I did for the New Black Knowledge special to motivate their subscribers to learn something about the state they are from or currently live in.

This is about the Second African school built in Marion County, FL in the city of Ocala, a lot of the material I gather from newspapers.com, Florida memory.com, also sources from Digital Collections website from the Ocala public library. My family members I could find that attended the school was Charlene Campbell-Kinsler (paternal-grandmother), Hinton Kinlser III (paternal-grandfather), Hinton Kinsler IV (Father), Amee M. Kinsler (Sister), and myself Chani K. Kinsler and there are most likely other family members from both maternal (Frazier, Tyson, Gaines, etc.), and paternal side (Kinsler, Jones, Campbell, Calvin, etc.) that attended this school as well since the only schools in Marion county for black children prior to integration was Fessenden Academy and Howard academy.

This presentation was completed in September 2020 with me (Chani Kinsler) providing commentary using PowerPoint (slides), Audacity(audio-voiceover), Shotcut (video editing and rendering), and the background music is from Lakey Inspired to watch the 9 min presentation with audio on the New Black Knowledge YouTube channel click here and enjoy.
